The 7-layer sieve
Every idea goes through a structured 7-layer framework, from the hardest physical constraints up to human abstraction, then back down to a concrete product. The order matters: it lets you fail early on what won't hold, and build a solid judgment layer by layer.
1. Physical
Does the idea obey the laws of physics? Energy, matter, biology — we start with what can't be negotiated.
2. Technological
Does the tech exist or does it need to be built? We assess maturity, dependencies, and R&D cost.
3. Legal
Is the idea legal? Regulatory grey areas, existing patents, future regulation risks.
4. Social
What happens if the idea succeeds at scale? Uberization, resistance, cultural acceptability.
5. Psychological
How does the idea affect the individual? Attention, autonomy, dependency, cognition, rebound effects.
6. Economic
Is the idea profitable? R&D costs, acquisition, scale costs. Existing market or new? Revenue model.
7. Product
What concrete form to deliver the idea? Target, channel, pricing, differentiation. Only if the first 6 layers hold.

#8 — A legally sound, technically simple mystery-shopping subscription for independen
A legally sound, technically simple mystery-shopping subscription for independent restaurants. Core risk is unit economics: €79/month leaves razor-thin margins after shopper costs, requiring rapid volume or a price increase to survive. Operationally, building a reliable shopper network city-by-city before scaling sales is the critical execution challenge.
